Your Path to Career Success with Government-Funded Training

If you’ve been unemployed for six months or longer and are part of a low-income household, the Better Jobs Ontario program can provide the support you need to retrain for a new career. Funded by the Ontario government, this program offers financial assistance for individuals looking to gain skills in high-demand industries.

What is Better Jobs Ontario?

Better Jobs Ontario helps unemployed or underemployed Ontarians get back to work by funding career-focused training programs. Whether you’ve been laid off, are working a temporary job to make ends meet, or have been out of work for a significant time, this program can help you regain control of your career path.

Financial Support – Up to $28,000 in Funding

Eligible applicants can receive up to $28,000 to cover:

  • Tuition for training programs
  • Books and other instructional materials, including student fees and supplies
  • Electronic devices necessary for training
  • Transportation
  • Basic living allowance of up to $500 per week

Additional funding may be available for:

  • Childcare and support for parents returning to school
  • Disability-related supports to ensure accessibility in your education
  • Living away from home expenses
  • Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) and/or language training if needed

Who is Eligible for Better Jobs Ontario?

You may be eligible if:

  • You’ve been laid off and are currently unemployed or working a temporary job to cover living expenses.
  • You’ve been unemployed for six months or longer and are part of a low-income household.
  • You’re receiving Employment Insurance (EI), Ontario Works (OW), or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP).

International students are not eligible for this program.

Program Length – Training in Under a Year

Better Jobs Ontario focuses on helping people get back into the workforce quickly. That’s why the program supports training that can be completed within 52 weeks or less, including micro-credential programs that provide targeted skill development in a short amount of time.

Choose From 5 In-Demand Diploma Programs

We offer five diploma programs eligible for Better Jobs Ontario funding:

  1. Advanced Makeup – Learn skills in makeup and hair design to become a makeup artist
  2. Advanced Esthetics – Get the essential skills for a professional career in esthetics in salons, resorts, esthetics offices and more
  3. Advanced Nail Technology – Gain the skills to have a career in a beauty salon, nail salon and other areas. 
  4. Personal Support Worker (PSW) – Get hands on training in the high demand field of Personal Support Worker.
  5. Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) – If you have a passion for working with children, then get the valuable skills needed for a future as an ECA
