PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Advanced Makeup Artistry Diploma Program offers essential theory and practical skill-building subjects, requiring no prior training. The program combines online reading lessons with on-campus practical classes, covering skin preparation, color theories, brow shaping, and full face artistry. It also includes Hair Design modules for comprehensive training in creating looks for the Beauty, Bridal, Fashion, Media, and Runway industries.

This program contains 8 individual modules with multiple entry points. Below is a breakdown of the program and what you can expect to learn. An Entry Point is an approved Module/ Subject where a new student may enter the program.

The course is a 400 Hour Vocational Program
Hybrid Theory and Practical – 336 Hours plus Clinical Hours
Practical Hours: In Class/Industry – 64 Hours

CAREER ESSENTIALS (Entry Point)

Develop skills within the areas of Verbal Communication, Decision Making and Problem Solving, Techniques in displaying and selling merchandise, as well as marketing and promoting techniques. Business start up lessons are also included in this module. Optional Module.

SCIENCE OF SKIN (Optional Entry Point)

Understand the importance and process of infection control, sterilization methods, Health Canada guidelines, basic first aid, general understanding of the human body and its functions, as well as knowledge of assessing cosmetic ingredients prior to use. Optional module.

LEVEL ONE MAKEUP ARTISTRY (Entry Point)

Understand Cosmetic products and brushes, including its uses and sanitation methods. Also develop an understanding of Color Theory, Face Shape and Artistry methods to correct each face shape. Additionally, learn hands on techniques to applying full daytime and evening makeup looks for all skin types, complexions.

BRIDAL MAKEUP

Designed by Bridal Industry Experts. Students of this Module will learn effective Bridal Makeup Artistry, including techniques in Skin Preparation, Traditional and Trend application techniques for such looks as Classic, Glamour, South Asian and Media Eastern Bridal Looks. Also receive inside guidance of Trials, Consultations and Contracts.

FASHION MAKEUP

Learn effective Fashion Makeup Artistry techniques, including lessons in Fashion Makeup history, Runway, Seasonal Trends, Cut Creases, Halo and other current Fashion Makeup Artistry.

MEDIA MAKEUP

This Module has been designed by Media Industry Experts to introduce Students to Media and Television Makeup Artistry. Lessons are designed to teach Students effective application techniques for Male and Female faces for Color Photography Makeup, Black and White Photography Makeup, Stage and Theatre Makeup as well as Straight Television Makeup. Additionally learn Airbrush Makeup Artistry using in class kits and supplies.

HAIR DESIGN (Entry Point)

With a combination of theoretical lessons, demonstrations and hands on practice, this module is designed to introduce Students to Hair Anatomy as well as effective design techniques for various face shapes, hair textures and styles. Learn classic updos and standard techniques for curling, pinning and styling hair.

CLINICAL PRACTICE

Complete a minimum of 64 clinical practice hours on classmates, models and or clients.

Typically, classes are Monday to Thursday with mornings and evenings options.

The final examination is an online examination to evaluate the theory component of the training and determine whether each student has the required level of knowledge to do the job safely and effectively. The practical exam is conducted in person at the end of each skill building module.

Applicants of this Advanced Makeup Diploma Program must have a Canadian or USA Highschool Transcript or Diploma, or must pass a Wonderlic qualifying test that has been approved by the Superintendent.

Become a Qualified Makeup Artistry Professional

The Advanced Makeup Artistry Diploma has been developed by Industry Professionals, screened by Subject Matter Experts as well as Accredited Adult Educators and is approved as a Vocational Program under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005. A GLOW College Diploma is earned upon successfully completing all of the following Subjects/Modules of the program.

Complete this Diploma with a series of reading lessons online and comprehensive practical classes to master Fashion and Bridal Makeup Artistry.

Hair Design modules are included to ensure you are well-rounded in both Makeup Artistry as well as Hair Design to create looks for the Beauty, Bridal, Fashion, Media and Runway industries. Develop advanced skills and confidence through theoretical lessons, live demonstrations and hands-on training. Capture your work with a series of optional portfolio shoots.
